Alberta Provincial Nominee Program

Alberta has been the most popular destination for the migrants in Canada. The name was changed on February 16, 2022. It nominates the individuals for the permanent residency in Alberta. The program runs by the governments of Alberta and Canada. If the applicant is eligible for the nomination, they can apply for permanent residency status. They can travel with their spouse or common-law-partner and dependent children.

The applicants are selected on the basis of the presence of their parents, child, siblings or grandparents as a permanent resident or Canadian Citizen in Alberta.

The AAIP has three streams for skilled applicants who wish to work and live in Alberta:

  • Alberta Express Entry- The profiles with minimum 300 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score are allowed in the eligible National Occupation Classification (NOC). They can apply for the nomination for permanent residency. The eligible candidate can apply after getting the invitation.
  • Alberta Opportunity Stream- The eligible candidates working in the eligible occupation can live in the same province. They can also apply for the nomination.
  • Alberta Tech Pathway- The candidates who are already working in Alberta in the technical industry or received an employment offer from Alberta.
  • Rural Renewal Stream-The applicants having an employment from Alberta employer in rural Alberta community can register for an AAIP program.

Education & Health care

The Alberta Centennial Education Plan was launched in 2005. The plan will contribute $500 to the Registered Education Savings Plan of every child born to Alberta residents in 2005 and beyond. The program is designed to give parents an incentive to start planning and saving for their child’s post-secondary education as early as possible. In 2004, total assistance to Alberta students was about $439 million. Alberta, like the rest of Canada, has universal, publicly funded health care. Approximately $7,000 per capita is spent each year on health care in the province, which is among the highest in Canada.

The eligibility criteria for the Alberta Immigration Nominee Program include. Each stream has its own distinct selection criteria.

  • The applicant must have valid full-time employment offer or employment contract from an Alberta employer to work in an eligible occupation in a designated community.
  • The applicants must have at least 12 months of full-time employment experience in an eligible occupation in the 18 months before they apply. This employment experience can be a combination of experience in Alberta, elsewhere in Canada or abroad.
  • Completed the minimum language proficiency test with the minimum required score.
  • The applicant must have a degree or diploma that is equivalent to the Canadian education standard.
  • Must demonstrate the required funds to support themselves and their family members who will be moving with them to Canada.
  • The applicant is not eligible to apply if they are working in a part time or remote work.

Once the eligibility is determined for submitting an application under the Alberta Immigration Nominee Program, then the applicant should wait for the result from the province. After the selection, the applicant may get a nomination for Canada Permanent Residence by the province and will be invited in the province.

The applicant must check all the eligibility criteria as per the requirement of the province. The applicant must create an Express Entry profile, and submit all the necessary documents. Once the application reaches in the Express Entry pool, the government of Alberta reviews the eligibility. If the applicant is eligible he/she get a Notification of Interest from Alberta. The applicant has to compete the application in a specific period of time.  The required Comprehensive Ranking System points are added further. The Expression of Interest is submitted by the applicant then. In the last step the Invitation of Apply is issued.
