Alberta Rural Renewal Stream
The Alberta Rural Renewal Stream is one of the updated Alberta Rural Renewal Streams that requires an employment offer for the applicant from a designated rural community in Alberta to obtain eligibility. The applicant gets a permanent residency for the federal government from Canada after receiving the nomination.
Overview
Though, the stream is not aligned with the Express Entry so the applicant does not get an advantage of the 6-month average processing time under the Express Entry program. The processing time for the provincial nominee program (that is not aligned with Express Entry) is comparatively longer and takes at least 1 year.
The Alberta Rural Renewal Stream is a program that provides funding to support economic development initiatives in rural communities in Alberta. The program is designed to help communities diversify their economies, create jobs, and improve the quality of life for residents.
The Alberta Rural Renewal Stream would operate through the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program and prioritize economic immigration candidates who express an interest in settling in Alberta’s smaller rural communities. The applicants must also provide proof of funds for settlement. There are other requirements that must be fulfilled regarding the candidate, the employer, and the job offer.
The Alberta Rural Renewal Stream fulfills the current labor shortage and needs and skilled professionals in rural Alberta communities. It helps the newcomers to settle down into the rural community. This stream requires a community to apply to the Government of Alberta for community designation
Eligibility
- The applicant must obtain an Endorsement letter from a designated rural community employer.
- The letter is issued by the Local Economic Development Organization.
- There must be a detailed description of how to fill the position, the efforts of the employer’s
- The applicant must have the intentions to live and work in Canada.
- The Endorsement letter must include the name, title and contact information of the applicant.
- To be eligible for the stream the applicant must have a full time employment contract from a designated Alberta employer in an eligible occupation in the designated community.
- The employment should be at least 12 months within the 18 months.
- The wages must meet or exceed the lowest starting wage for the occupation across all industries in Alberta.
How to apply for Alberta Rural Renewal Stream
To understand the process, below is a list of the steps involved in obtaining Permanent Residence through the Rural Renewal (RR) stream. Candidates must:
- Receive an Endorsement of Candidate letter from their designated community.
- Apply to the RR stream when the stream is open in the AAIP portal by completing the online application uploading all requested documents.
- Apply for permanent residence to the federal government (IRCC) within 6 months of receiving the nomination (after AAIP processes their application). Candidates need to apply on paper to IRCC, and include the nomination documentation received from the AAIP.
