Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MNPN) is the most popular nominee programs in Canada. It allows nomination for the eligible aspirants who fill the criteria of the province. The MNPN was first set in 1998. Since then, thousands of aspirants have moved in to Canada with the help of this program.

In 2020 some new pathways of settlement and up to date streams for Express Entry candidates added to migrate to Manitoba. Beside that some new amendments for the fast application approvals formed for the foreigners.

The other stream is for the Business Migrants. The new migration program route is to attract the International Skilled workers under the MNPN program. To obtain nomination the applicants must be a qualified foreign skilled worker or an international student.

  1. International student graduates must have attended an authorized education or training program at a public, or registered private vocational, post-secondary institution in Manitoba. (Language programs are specifically excluded.)
  2. The academic/vocational program must have been full-time and at least one academic year in length.
  3. The candidate must have successfully completed the program and have been awarded a diploma, degree, or certificate.

Have a valid full time employer offer from the Manitoba employer.

Have worked for their current Manitoba employer continuously for at least six months;

  1. Any periods of self-employment, unauthorized employment, or periods of employment during which applicants were engaged in full-time study will not be included when calculating the period of qualifying employment experience in Manitoba.

The candidates must demonstrate the English or French proficiency to fulfill the duties of their employment description.

Have a connection to Manitoba through employment that is stronger than ties they may have to another province.

Demonstrate in a Settlement Plan intention and ability to live, get an employment and establish with family and start a life in Manitoba as a permanent resident.

NOTE: An applicant who is graduated from a post-secondary program in a Canadian province other than Manitoba and who wants to apply to the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program under this category because he or she has been offered an employment in Manitoba must first have been working for that Manitoba employer for at least one year in order to be eligible.

The Manitoba Support Program is a branching program from the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). MPNP seeks to bring recent graduates, skilled employers, business-oriented persons, and their families to settle in Manitoba, Canada as permanent residents.

If you are dreaming to bring your close friends and distant family member to Canada you can bring them under the Manitoba Support Program. As a citizen or permanent resident you can sponsor your friend when you stand as Manitoba supporter. A Manitoba Supporter is an establish permanent resident or a citizen of Manitoba, Canada. The supporter must be willing to sponsor a friend or distant relative. The sponsor must demonstrate the applicant’s plan for setting and finding an employment in Manitoba, Canada.

In order to be a Manitoba Supporter, an individual must be:

  • Able to provide documents proving that he or she has been living in Manitoba continuously for a minimum of one year
  • The supporter must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Able to demonstrate sufficiently close ties to the applicant and the province;
  • For close relatives, both the applicant and the supporter must provide documents proving their familial relationship.
  • Close relatives are considered to be those related to the applicant (or the applicant’s spouse) in one of the following ways:
  • Sister or brother,
  • Niece or nephew,
  • Aunt or uncle,
  • First cousin,
  • Mother or father,
  • Grandmother or grandfather.
  • Able to demonstrate that any applications they previously supported resulted in successful, permanent economic establishment in Manitoba
  • Able to support the applicant’s Settlement Plan.

Note: Canadian elected officials and their staff cannot be Manitoba Supporters. Children living in Manitoba cannot support their parents.

First step is to check the eligibility, if it is as per the requirements of the government of Manitoba. The applicant has to create an “Expression of Interest” to the Government of Manitoba account. The highest scoring qualified applicants, with connection to Manitoba will receive a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA). If the application is successful, the last step is to apply for permanent residence through IRCC. It will be up to the Government of Canada to make the final decision on your permanent residency.
