Every year more than 3.7 million students apply for study abroad. English speaking countries such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, UK and USA require an IELTS score if the program is taught in English. Nearly 11,000 educational organisations recognise IELTS worldwide. The candidates want to study abroad have to take the IELTS Academic for their application process. On the other hand the IELTS General Training is language proficiency with a practical and everyday context for both work place and social circumstances. Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking are the four components for both:

• Listening – The duration for the listening component is for 30 minutes. It includes the audio clips as well for the listening requirement. The answer must be based on the audio clips only. The clips are played to check the listening skills of the student.
• Reading –– The component have 40 questions with a wide range of questions. The idea is to evaluate the reading skills of the candidate. This test has three passages to read and answer. The passages are derived from books, newspapers, magazines and journals.
• Speaking- – The speaking section have three parts which lasts for 11 to 14 minutes. This is same for both Academic and General Training. The questions asked in the section are based on self introduction or about candidates home, family, work or hobbies.
• Writing- Both academic and General Training has two tasks to complete. A graph, diagram or table are asked to describe. Topics are shared of general interest in General Training.
