The Student Direct Stream now accepts CAEL and CELPIP starting on 10th August 2023
We are happy to inform you that when applying for a study permit through the Student Direct Stream (SDS), foreign students who wish to enroll in a Canadian post-secondary institution may now select an English language competence test created in Canada.
The Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) Test and the Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Programme-General (CELPIP-General) tests, taken at a testing facility, will accept results starting on August 10, 2023, according to a statement from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Understanding the Student Direct Stream
A program called the Study Direct Stream (SDS) gives international students a quicker option to apply for and get their study permits. Students using SDS can anticipate a 20-day processing time for their applications. Students from Antigua and Barbuda, Brazil, China, Costa Rica, Colombia, India, Morocco, Pakistan, Peru, the Philippines, Senegal, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, and Vietnam are among those who are qualified to apply for study visas through SDS.
We recommend scheduling your exam as soon as possible to ensure that your application will be submitted on time because the CAEL and CELPIP tests will begin to be accepted for SDS on August 10, 2023. In order to expedite the SDS procedure, make sure your CAEL and CELPIP scores are prepared when you prepare your application. These results are valid for two years after you have completed your exam.
Please keep in mind that IRCC requires SDS applications to be completed with a CAEL test conducted at a test center; therefore, CAEL Online results are not eligible for SDS applications if you are applying for SDS with a CAEL score.
